Quintana: “Alejandro has done what he had to”

Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team): “We wanted to make the race hard and to make history with Alejandro (Valverde). It was a great teamwork. We know Alejandro was feeling really good, we worked for him the whole day and in the end he’s done what he had to. If I had saved myself in the climb, maybe I could have (won the stage) but we were working for Alejandro. He won, I’m very about this, and on my part I’m also very happy with the legs I had today. It gives me confidence for the coming days. If I these sensations stick for the next few days, we can do great things. Right now, the virtual leader of the race is Roglic because of the tie-trial we still have. If we can take some seconds out of him, it would be good.”
