Bagioli: “I'll defend the jersey for as many days as possible”

Andrea Bagioli (Deceuninck-Quick Step): “For sure I like my result today but I didn't expect it. I'm not a pure time trialist but I like these short and explosive time trials. So I started with the intention to do well but to make the top 10 and finish best young rider, I didn't think I would do this. This is my first distinctive jersey in a Grand Tour. I'll defend it for as many days as possible but it's impossible for me to reach Santiago in the white jersey with young riders like Bernal here. I have been off the bike for three months after a crash in March and a knee injury. My form was on the up at Tour de Wallonie and Tour de l'Ain. I came to La Vuelta with the idea of winning a stage. I hope I can do this.”
