Since its reappearance in La Vuelta in 2011, following an absence of over three decades, Bilbao has hosted both the finish-line and stage departure for consecutive stages during the four editions that have visited it. In La Vuelta 25, the banks of the Nervión River will experience a stage whose departure and finish-line are both in the city – something that has not happened during a linear stage since 1963, but did take place in 2023, with the Grand Départ of the Tour de France.
