Padrón has already hosted two La Vuelta stage departures. This Galician locality is a transit point and a habitual starting point for the final stage of The Portuguese Way of St. James. It has also been the starting point for La Vuelta’s final stage on two occasions. Both times, in 1993 and in 2021, the stages were individual time trials that concluded in Santiago de Compostela. In 2024, Padrón will be the star of Stage 11, hosting both the stage departure and the finish-line.
