The food company has joined the 71st edition of the Spanish tour to help the development of a sporting discipline that requires great physical and psychological preparation. A selection of its products will accompany the race caravan for tasting both at the starting-line and at the finish-line by event spectators.
Nutrition is an essential aspect for the 198 riders that will depart from the Thermal Province of Ourense on Saturday the 20th of August to complete 21 highly demanding stages that will take us to Madrid, where we will arrive on the 11th of September. The Spanish tour will have a first rate line-up, with the participation of the last Tour de France winner, Christopher Froome (Team Sky) who will compete with men of such calibre as Alberto Contador (Tinkoff), Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team) and Esteban Chaves (Orica-BikeExchange). ElPozo Alimentación, through its BienStar brand, also becomes one of the main sponsors of the Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta, the female race that takes place before the final stage, in the Madrid circuit.
The new sponsorship agreement with ElPozo reinforces the Vuelta’s growth trend, not just in revenue but in the quality of its sponsors. This is how Javier Guillén, the General Director of the Vuelta, explains it: “To have the support of a prestigious brand like ElPozo, a leader and a reference in its sector, is a clear example of the leap in quality currently being experienced by our race. A brand that also has a long history in sports sponsorships and with which we hope to continue growing over the next three years”.
The Associate General Director of ElPozo Alimentación, Rafael Fuertes, confirms: “The values of sacrifice, discipline, commitment, dedication, teamwork and self-improvement that sports represents adjust very well to our company’s philosophy, which is why we have been supporting sports for over a quarter of a century”.
