Paella, flamenco and handball to celebrate the arrival of La Vuelta in Nîmes

 Nîmes' impressive Parnasse stadium put up its “sold out” sign last night. Its 3900 seats were filled with fans that lived last night's match with great enthusiasm. The match ended with the win of the local team along with the festive atmosphere that surrounded it. La Vuelta and Spain where the stars five months before the official start of the competition in the heart of Nîmes, on the 19th of August.

A paella tasting for all the assistants, fun photo calls in which to immortalise the moment next to a map of La Vuelta 2017 and Nîmes' most emblematic locations, a flamenco and sevillanas show… Ultimately, music, dancing and gastronomy to enrich the warm meeting that took place between the city, the club, the numerous sponsors and the organisers of La Vuelta. Tei Tei, La Vuelta's charming mascot, had its moment and kicked off the match, much to the delight of the public and the players from both teams alike.

 Nîmes will be the protagonist of the first two stages of La Vuelta 2017. A team time trial though the city's historical centre will mark the beginning of the 72nd edition. The second stage will depart from Nîmes and take place entirely on French territory, ending at Gruissan. Grand Narbonne. Aude on the 20th of August, before going to Prades and heading back to Spain.

This first taste of La Vuelta in Nîmes made a very good impression on all those present, who left the stadium with a smile on their faces and with the feeling that, regardless of who won and who lost, the game had been a very special one, with a new war cry: that of “sí, sí, sí… La Vuelta arrived in Nîmes”.
