Jorge Ruiz, singer and leader of the Murcian band, confessed to being very excited. “I've dreamt of this since I was a kid and, today, that dream came true. I still can't believe it”. Their song is the 40th to become an official La Vuelta anthem.
In 1977, Sheila and B.Devotion inaugurated this sporting and musical tradition with “Singing in the rain”; other icons followed, such as Azul y Negro, Tino Casal, La Unión or, more recently, Melendi, Nena Daconte and La Oreja de Van Gogh. “The anthem of La Vuelta is something important. We don't chose random songs. We love Maldita Nerea because they're passionate about cycling and about La Vuelta" explained Javier Guillén, General Director of the race.
RTVE maintains and strengthens its commitment to the Spanish tour. La 1 and Teledeporte have been broadcasting the emotion and the passion for La Vuelta for 35 years in order to bring it to Spanish homes and to homes all over the world through the international television station. Javier Quevedo, Deputy Director of Sports Production at RTVE is very please with the new song: “It is about “dancing”, and that is what the route of La Vuelta does through our territory: it also talks about “stars”, those that make up the race's peloton”.
The launch of ‘Bailarina' marks the start of the countdown for the 72nd edition of La Vuelta, with just over 50 days left until we fire the starting gun at the Maison Carrée in Nîmes.
