Nuria Fergó's 'La vida son solo dos días' is the official song of La Vuelta 18

Nuria Fergó's song ‘La vida son solo dos días' will be the tune to accompany the peloton of La Vuelta 18 from its departure in Malaga until it crosses the final finish-line in Madrid. The song was presented this morning in Malaga's Thyssen Museum, in the presence of the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the President of the Malaga Provincial Council, Elías Bendodo. The Malaga-born singer will reinforce her province's strong presence in this year's edition of the Spanish tour. Malaga will host almost 400km of stages.

Nuria Fergó's song ‘La vida son solo dos días', is the official song of La Vuelta 18. The singer from Malaga thus joins a long list of artists who have provided music for the Spanish Grand Tour, ever since Sheyla and B. Devotion made the peloton dance to ‘Singing in the Rain', back in 1977.

The song for 2018 was presented this morning in Malaga's Thyssen Museum, in the presence of the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the President of the Malaga Provincial Council, Elías Bendodo. “The song of La Vuelta is a tradition that has very much become a part of the race. It is present throughout the entire event, which is why we always look for a melody that transmits the joy that characterises La Vuelta. Whenever possible, we try to make it a nod to the city that hosts the official departure in a video that will be filmed between the city of Malaga and the other host localities within the province. This video will be broadcast in the months leading up to La Vuelta, on the various TVE stations”, explained Javier Guillén, General Director of Unipublic, organiser of La Vuelta.

The decision to choose Nuria Fergó is no coincidence. The singer, who shot to fame following her participation in the first edition of Operación Triunfo, is very closely linked to Malaga, a province that will feature heavily in La Vuelta's 73rd edition with the official departure and almost 400km of stages. Nerja, the singer's birthplace, is one of the municipalities through which the riders will pedal in the fourth stage that departs from Vélez-Malaga and ends at Alfacar (Alfaguara Mountain Range), in the Province of Granada.

Malaga's presence in La Vuelta 2018 will be a notable one. The first stage – an individual time-trial – will depart on the 25th of August from the Pompidou Centre to end up in the Plaza de la Constitución, from the iconic Larios street. The second and third stages will also take place entirely within the province, with departures from Marbella and Mijas and arrivals in Caminito del Rey and Alhaurín de la Torre.

The distinct Andalusian flavour of the first week of racing is, precisely, what Nuria Fergó represents, with her flamenco style that appeals to all audiences. “It is truly a gift that La Vuelta has decided to count on me to sing this year's official song. I am sincerely grateful to the institutions and to the race itself for choosing me to be a part of an event where my province is so well represented”, concluded the artist.
