Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), winner of the combativity award: “I gave everything today. I was in the breakaway and then I tried to attack with 50km to go but I didn’t really have the legs to play for the stage win in the finale. But anyway this prize is a nice reward. It was the nicest stage of La Vuelta and maybe the hardest day of the whole year. It was a super hard day from start to finish. It took a long time until the break finally got away. Everybody was motivated to be in the breakaway. And after again we started to attack early in the breakaway. The course was also tricky, up and down all day, much harder than expected.”
