RTVE and La Vuelta pedal to the tune of ‘Corazón sin salida’, by Estopa

Corazón sin salida - Estopa - Spot oficial La Vuelta 23

The official video of La Vuelta 23 was presented at Barcelona’s Luz de Gas music hall this Thursday, in the presence of José and David Muñoz, of Estopa, David Escudé, Councillor for Sports in the Barcelona City Council, Arsenio Cañada, RTVE Sports Director and Javier Guillén, General Director of La Vuelta. This year’s edition will pedal to the rhythm of Corazón sin salida.

La Vuelta will host a historic Grand Departure in Barcelona and those in charge of providing the soundtrack will be the Muñoz brothers – two of our country’s most successful and beloved artists in recent decades. Corazón sin salida is a song from Fuego, their latest studio album, that conveys freshness, ingenuity, lyricism, imagination, humour and all the carefree confidence that has characterised the Catalan group since its earliest songs.

Corazón sin salida in an energetic song that compares everyone’s fight against time with a time trial or even with a mountain stage, much like every other stage of La Vuelta, which is why it fits in perfectly with the spirit of the race. The official video depicts everyday life in Barcelona through a route that extends from the ground to the sky, passing through some locations that reflect its culture, sports, heritage and quality of life. The Olympic Port, the race’s departure location, the Tibidabo amusement park, Collserola, the Olympic Ring, Montjuic, the Sagrada Familia, the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter are just some of the sceneries depicted in the video.

David Escudé, Councillor for Sports in the Barcelona City Council, highlighted the city’s starring role in this year’s video. ‘With Estopa and their uplifting song Corazón sin salida as the soundtrack, the video shows the many faces of our Barcelona, a sporting city with an important cycling tradition, but one that also opens up to the sea, and is modern, dynamic, a leader in the fields of design and gastronomy, and a standard bearer for the kind of lifestyle depicted in these images.’

‘The video, much like the song, conveys freshness and reflects the Barcelona we all know and love, from the beach to the mountains, passing through its urban centre. The two-minute video is a reflection of its culture, its people and of what fans will be able to experience for themselves as they watch the race ride through the city on the 26th of August,’ explained Javier Guillén, General Director of La Vuelta.

The official song of La Vuelta has become one of our race’s calling cards, with a musical and sporting tradition spanning over 40 years. Ever since French artists Sheila and B. Devotion provided La Vuelta with its very first official song in 1977, namely Singing in the rain, many national and international artists have followed suit. Estopa will be the first Barcelona artists to sing the official song.

The debut of La Vuelta’s official video marks the start of an intense cycling summer on RTVE. As per usual, the video will air 300 times on the various RTVE channels over the next three months, starting this weekend - coinciding with the start of the Tour de France on Saturday, 1st of July in Bilbao - and concluding on the 17th of September with the end of La Vuelta. The official song of La Vuelta will also accompany the daily broadcast of all 21 stages of the Spanish tour on the public TV station.
