"Today I already I had a feeling in the morning that it was not gonna be for the stage win. Actually, Sepp Kuss told me they were gonna control for the stage. I said this in the team radio. Then I mentioned I wanted to be in the breakaway to take the points on the two first climbs and then we would see the situation up the first part of Angliru. The gap was not big enough. I could keep it around 1’30’’ for some time but once it got steeper, I ran out of energy. Together with my strong teammate Mattia Cattaneo we made a break the two of us almost all the time. It wasn’t easy at all but I think we did well, scoring the points, and tomorrow we try to secure the jersey."
