Alessandro Verre (Arkéa-B&B Hotels): “Tomorrow we leave Italy and it was better to leave with the [polka dot] jersey on my shoulders. Today we tried and it worked. The plan was to pass first or second [atop the climb of Issiglio] and I had to go really hard to go ahead of the EF rider [Sean Quinn]. I tried to talk with him, and eventually I managed to pass first and then we went together as much as possible. Then the legs weren’t really good for the finale but I was targeting the first 65 kilometres anyway.”
