This Wednesday, La Vuelta organised a social ride in the Casa de Campo in Madrid to celebrate World Bicycle Day - an initiative an initiative aimed at encouraging the use of the bicycle in everyday life.
This forms part of the ‘La Vuelta es Más’ social responsibility programme launched in 2025, based on four main pillars: Más Bici en Tu Vida, Más Solidaria, Menos es Más and Más por Descubrir. In this particular occasion, the activity has been organised under the umbrella of Más Bici en Tu Vida, with the aim of bringing professional cycling closer to the public and, thus, promoting bicycle use as a means for wellness, mobility and social connection.
As part of Más Bici en Tu Vida, initiatives such as La Vuelta Junior, which has already introduced cycling to more than 250,000 children, and the Más Bici seal, an award recognising host cities’ commitment to promoting everyday cycling, stand out. In 2025, Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valladolid and Zaragoza became the first cities to receive this certification, an initiative that will continue to grow in 2026 and will be open to all cities that have hosted a start or finish of La Vuelta. In this way, La Vuelta aims to create a legacy that goes beyond the competition and contributes to a more active, healthy and sustainable society.
With this initiative, La Vuelta reaffirms its commitment to making a positive impact in the localities that form part of the race and to continue promoting bicycles as a transformative element, both within and outside the competition.
