This stage begins on flat terrain but will gradually ascend towards the Pyrénées Orientales. The Col de Mont-Louis will be this edition’s first notable mountain pass - a predecessor to the Font-Romeu, the race’s first high-altitude finale. It is expected to identify a group of around 20 or 30 of the strongest riders that will fight it out for the top spots of La Vuelta 26.
