The organisation of La Vuelta 26 has decided to modify the route of Stage 15, scheduled for tomorrow, 6 September, between Palma del Río and Córdoba, due to the high temperatures forecast for the day.
With the aim of protecting the health of the riders and ensuring the best possible conditions for the competition, the Extreme Weather Protocol is being activated for Stage 15. Consequently, the following measures have been implemented:
- The stage will cover 110.2 kilometres, instead of the 189.7 kilometres originally planned.
- The neutralised start will be delayed to 2:50 PM, with the race starting at 3:00 PM.
- The route modification will take effect from kilometre 52, where the race will take the CO-3402 towards Santa María de Trassierra, instead of continuing along the A-3075 towards Villaviciosa de Córdoba, as originally planned.
The decision was taken following the activation of the Extreme Temperatures Protocol, after a meeting involving representatives of the Commissaires’ Panel, the teams, the riders and La Vuelta management, taking into account all the considerations raised by the different parties and the weather conditions forecast for tomorrow’s stage.
