This Sunday, the 4th of October, the state of Morelos held the second Desafío by La Vuelta on Mexican territory. The locality of Tequesquitengo hosted the departure and finish-line of a race that brought together more than 1000 participants, in a day of cycling, sports and camaraderie based on the values that define La Vuelta.
The Desafío Morelos by La Vuelta covered some of the state’s most emblematic roads along its 94 kilometres, offering the participants the opportunity to have an experience inspired by one of the major cycling tours on the international calendar. The race was completed in pairs, in the mixed, male and female categories, awarding prizes to the top pair in each classification.
It also featured the presence of Óscar Pereiro, an ambassador of La Vuelta, who accompanied the participants and shared with them his experience and passion for cycling. His participation has reinforced the link between the event and the history of La Vuelta, thus bringing Mexican fans closer to the spirit of the race. These ties were symbolically celebrated with a Paella Party, held for the participants after the race.
Following the Desafío Ensenada by La Vuelta, held in May, Morelos took over as the host for the second Desafío by La Vuelta in Mexico, confirming this format’s popularity among the country’s cycling fans.
This event is part of La Vuelta’s international expansion, already reflected in Desafíos held in Mexico and China with new races to be held in Chile and Brazil. The next Desafío by La Vuelta will be held in Brazil on the 28th of November.
