Bernal: “I knew from the first day that I was not at my best level”

Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers): “The end was very hard, really. These last meters were very hard. It has been a beautiful stage to watch on television. In the end it was important to be ahead, but also to control your effort because the slope was long. The truth is that I knew from the first day that I was not at my best level and if you are not at your best level it is difficult to win the race, but my goal is still to give my best and we will keep trying. [Looking to the last week] it is very difficult to get to your best level from one day to the next, that comes with months of preparation, but you have to be calm and be aware of things.”
