Uran: "a very special day for me"

Rigoberto Uran: "It is always very nice to win. In La Vuelta, I had been chasing it for many years, because when you already have victories in the Giro and in the Tour... and now in La Vuelta, as a rider for three-week events, it gives me a lot of happiness. Today is a very special day for me. Finishing here today first gives me a lot of happiness. Thanks to the team, all the people who have made this possible, my family... and myself, because I am the first to believe in myself. Many times, when the objectives are not met, we have to be realistic, but today we are happy and I take this opportunity to send a greeting to our director, who had to leave the race with some problems with his family. Very fast riders came, obviously I had to spend a little more energy because I was the one who was benefiting the most, taking time in the general classification. Riders like Soler are very strong, I had to be attentive. Finally, with 300 metres to go, I saw the opportunity, and I said: ‘It's now or never'. We tried and we have achieved a very nice stage for me, for my team and for my career. [This victory] means that we always have to believe, to fight. Sometimes, results are very far and impossible to reach, but the important thing is to get up every day, with a good attitude, with happiness and try to never lose hope. It is something that I have been applying in my life."
