Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG): “[Winning 7 stages out of 14] is just a bit absurd, isn’t it? [laughs] It’s incredible. Four different winners, the team time trial… I think this year we’re performing amazing as a team. Personally, the guys are feeling really well, and we try to win the overall with Joao [Almeida]. I know that personally I’m giving my all to try and support Joao. Unfortunately, I had a flat tyre on the descent of the second last climb and I had to change my bike in the valley, so I used a fair bit of energy to come back. Then I pulled the bunch. My goal was to help in the steep section, not just on the flat, but by the time I got to the 7-km mark or something like this, I was empty and I had to let Felix [Grossschartner] go ahead. Personally, it’s an unfortunate for me, but still, I think we really supported Joao behind today. We really believe in him.”
