Andreas Leknessund: "I didn’t expect it to be this emotional"

Andreas Leknessund (Uno-X Mobility): “It’s hard to say what it represents. I didn’t expect it to be this emotional, but for sure there’s so many feelings. I’ve been fighting really hard, it means a lot. It was a special day.

Going from the start with Wout [van Aert], it was really hard; He was going so fast. Tobias [Johannessen] came up. It gave me confidence that we could win today. I believe he was the best climber in the group. We wanted for one of us to get a gap on the last climb. He let my wheel go and gave me the win. I’m really proud and grateful.

I was there in the Giro when Fredrik [Dversnes] won. That was amazing. And then the Tour, and now also the Vuelta, it really shows how good as a team we are. I’m super proud to be a part of this.

It’s been a special day for the team and also for Norway [with the passing of the king Harald V]. Obviously it’s a small thing in the bigger picture but still it makes the day more special.”
