Founded from the ashes of the extinct Phonak, BMC Racing Team grew little by little with every passing season: from a small US team that stuck almost exclusively to the national calendar to one of the references of the worldwide peloton, with such amazing sign-ups as Cadel Evans, Philippe Gilbert, Thor Hushovd, Tejay Van Garderen or Greg Van Avermaet.
Philippe Gilbert in Barcelona and La Lastrilla and the British rider Stephen Cummings in Ferrol both contributed towards making 2012 a great edition for the red and black team. Gilbert took home another victory in Tarragona in 2013, three further victories included the 2015 initial T.T.T in Marbella, the 14th stage at the Alto Campoo, with Alessandro De Marchi and a sprint victory of Jean-Pierre Drucker in Peñíscola (2016). In 2017, the Americans showed, once again, their command of team time trials, winning the inaugural stage in Nîmes, which allowed Rohan Dennis to wear La Roja for a day.
