Jakobsen: “It’s about surviving until stage 13”

August 24 th 2021 - 18:13 [GMT + 2]

Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step): “The first two hours were ridden at 47.9km/h, which is quite fast. After that, a breakaway of 30 stayed away and we had Mauri [Vansevenant] and Bagio [Andrea Bagioli]. In the end, we finish second. You can’t always roll the dice and throw a six. So I guess as a team we’re happy with the second place. I finished in the gruppetto on time. It’s about surviving until stage 13 and I think it will be a bunch sprint again. Two days ago [Alto de Velefique], it was one of the hardest stages I’ve ever done but I enjoyed the rest day, it was welcome. Today I felt ok in the beginning, I had good legs. So I look forward to the next stages. And hopefully I can sprint again for the win.”
