David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ): “For sure it was on my mind this morning but I didn’t really know if I’d fight for positions in the bunch sprint. It can be really dangerous. But I just disconnected, went to the finish line, and we got it. At the intermediate sprint, I followed the wheels but I couldn’t get the bonus seconds. After that, I spoke on the radio and I said: ‘We can do it at the finish.’ The team did an incredible job, and this jersey is for them. We have a strong team for the time trial. It would have been the same if we didn’t have the jersey: we just push and do our best time trial. And we’ll see after the line if we get a nice result.”
