"It was for sure a long day and a hard day. I had the polka dot jersey on my mind when I got the call last week that I was going to the Vuelta. I was looking up for this stage and checking how the sprints for the mountains classification were, so I was prepared. With Tadej [Pogacar] in the race, it’s gonna be hard, but I will fight for it. First, the legs need to be there. I feel good now. I will try to be there for as long as possible, but it also depends on tomorrow. I didn’t know that Ethan Hayter was chasing for 25 kilometres behind us. Once he was there, there was also the guy from Burgos [Sinuhé Fernandez]. I wanted to keep pushing so he wouldn’t come back and it would just be me and the guy from Kern Pharma [Diego Uriarte] sprinting for the points. In the end, I succeeded and I was quicker than him."
